ORIGAMI COOP - FINISHED!
The chicken coop finally got finished this weekend, just in time for 5 week holiday in South Africa starting tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone who helped.
Better photos when I get back, complete with chickens and hopefully eggs!

After a little break, Tim has been putting the finishing touches on the coop this week…
Here are some update pics he sent through to remind me of the work involved. The waste trays and nest partitions are finished, and everything has been lacquered and flashed. All that remains is to put the fibre cement back on, and get a tarp for the fly-roof.

ALMOST got the coop finished before uni started back today…
The rest should get finished off over the next couple of weeks. Mainly just the roof and cladding to the coop.
There is about a meter of mesh missing from the end in these photos, but we finished that section off after it got dark. The photo was also taken before everything was leveled up and compacted. The dirt and grass will be moved around so that it is level with the bottom of the gate to conceal the concrete.
Also there will be a perch in the right hand side and the wire nets for the eggs will be wired in (held in for the photo). This detail is different to the one shown earlier in sketchup. Rather than fiddle around with moving parts to conceal the eggs, I decided that by making the catcher mesh people will be able to see if there is eggs to collect without lifting a lid and peering inside…. the timber that stops the chickens from getting to the eggs can be removed if required..
That’s all for a couple of weeks I think. The next pictures should be the final ones complete with chickens
We are on the home run now…
3 of the 9 sections of wire mesh have been folded and 2 are in the ground. The thicker mesh is remarkably rigid once buried in the ground.
